Ericson Coney is no stranger to the spotlight. After years of hard work and dedication, the two-time state placer has already built a resume that most high school wrestlers only dream of—and he’s only a freshman.
His wrestling journey began at Mater Academy, where he wrestled from 6th through 8th grade. By the time he finished middle school, Ericson had already proven himself on the big stage, placing 8th at states his 8th grade year. With that kind of early success, expectations were sky-high—and he didn’t disappoint.
For his freshman season, Ericson made the move to Everglades High School, where he continued to make waves on the mat. He represented Everglades with pride, wrestling under the guidance of his father, Coach Coney. Together, they carved out another successful season, and Ericson climbed the state podium once again—this time finishing 6th.
Now, as the offseason unfolds and next season looms, a new question is rising across the Florida wrestling scene:
Where will Ericson Coney call home next year?
He’s got the drive, the experience, and so much more potential just waiting to be unleashed. The only thing left to decide is which school will earn the honor of watching him step onto the mat wearing their colors.
One thing is for sure—wherever Ericson goes, he brings grit, skill, and a legacy already in the making.
Stay tuned. The best of Ericson Coney is still yet to come.
